Meals From The Heart Café has proudly served the historic French Market since 2006. We are a family-owned restaurant known for heart-healthy New Orleans cuisine, offering traditional, vegan, and gluten-free options.
We serve a high-volume mix of locals and tourists and take pride in consistency, hospitality, and accommodating a wide range of dietary needs without sacrificing flavor.
As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a strong operational leader who can help improve organization, strengthen systems, and maintain high standards.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership position, not a stand-in-the-corner management role.
The Restaurant Manager will work alongside the team, lead by example, maintain standards, and ensure smooth daily operations when ownership is not on site. Flexibility and teamwork are essential in our small-business environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily restaurant operations and maintain high standards throughout each shift.
- Hold team members accountable to quality, consistency, cleanliness, hospitality, and speed of service.
- Develop, improve and enforce SOPs, prep standards, and opening and closing procedures.
- Train, coach, and support staff while promoting professionalism and accountability.
- Prepare employee schedules with labor goals and operational needs in mind.
- Maintain front and back of house inventory and assist with ordering.
- Monitor food cost, portion control, and waste reduction.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and health-code-compliant operation.
- Monitor equipment condition and coordinate maintenance needs.
- Communicate effectively with ownership and staff to maintain smooth service flow.
- Support both front and back of house operations when needed.
- Lead by example during service, prep, opening, and close.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of leadership experience in a high-volume restaurant environment.
- Proven supervisory experience and strong accountability standards.
- Systems-minded with the ability to improve organization and consistency.
- Mature, dependable, punctual, and highly organized.
- Comfortable leading in a small-team, high-accountability environment.
- Familiarity with vegan, gluten-free, or health-conscious cuisine is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and an ownership mentality.
Compensation & Growth
- $42,000–$52,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
