The Business Teacher for grades 5-8 is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in foundational business concepts, financial literacy, and career readiness. The position emphasizes real-world applications, digital skills, and preparing students with practical knowledge for future academic and career success.
- Plan and deliver standards-based instruction in business, financial literacy, and career exploration
- Teach topics such as budgeting, saving, entrepreneurship, marketing, digital citizenship, and basic economics
- Integrate technology tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, digital platforms) into instruction
- Promote problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and English Language Learners
- Assess student progress through projects, presentations, and formative assessments
- Create a positive, organized, and engaging classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary and career-readiness initiatives
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees
- Bachelor's degree in Business Education, Education, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in Business and Marketing Education (or appropriate certification)
- Strong understanding of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and business concepts
- Experience integrating technology into instruction
- Experience teaching middle school students (grades 5-8)
- Familiarity with career and technical education (CTE) frameworks
- Experience with project-based learning and real-world simulations
- Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices
- Classroom setting within a middle school
- Regular use of technology and instructional tools
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support student growth in practical life and career skills
- Maintain accurate records and meet all district deadlines
- Adhere to district policies and professional standards
