NYU Postdoctoral Appointments Policy
The NYU Center for Cybersecurity (NYU CCS) at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Associate with expertise in human-centered security, usable privacy, or technology-facilitated abuse to join an interdisciplinary team focused on defending under-resourced organizations from financial harm and cybercrime. This position provides an opportunity to shape a clinical research program that includes peer-reviewed research on cybersecurity threats. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty across NYU Tandon School of Engineering and NYU School of Law to generate research from the front lines of community cybersecurity practice.

The NYU Center for Cybersecurity, jointly based at NYU School of Law and NYU Tandon School of Engineering, brings together more than 50 faculty members across law, computer science, and policy. The NYU Cybersecurity Clinic , established in 2026 with sustained multi-year funding from Craig Newmark Philanthropies, the Clinic delivers free, faculty-supervised cybersecurity services to nonprofits, community health clinics, shelters, legal aid organizations, K-12 schools, and micro-businesses across all five New York City boroughs. The Clinic is a member of the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics and coordinates with NYC Cyber Command, the New York State Chief Cyber Officer, and federal law enforcement partners.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Professor Rosanna Bellini and Professor Damon McCoy to support the development of the NYU Cybersecurity Clinic . The candidate’s primary responsibility is to be an active collaborator within their research group studying cybersecurity, technology risks and how their intersection in under-resourced organizations. The candidate will also help lead new research efforts, contribute to ongoing projects, and be a core member of both the Cybersecurity Clinic leadership team, CCS, including mentoring Ph.D. and MS student researchers as appropriate.
Salary range
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $75,000 depending on the candidate’s experience and qualification.

Strong candidates will possess demonstrable experience translating technical security concepts for non-expert audiences and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to operate across technical, legal, and policy sectors. Field experience with nonprofits, civil society organizations, or under-resourced groups is preferred. We welcome applicants with recent PhDs and individuals seeking additional postdoctoral training. Candidates will be required to present eligibility to work in the United States.
