Position Description:
This position performs various types of painting and drywall repair as well as assisting in general maintenance. This position applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and other structures.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor.
- Smooths surfaces and removes old paint from surfaces to prepare surfaces for painting.
- Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler.
- Selects premixed paints, or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
- Removes fixtures such as pictures and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
- Spreads drop cloths over floors and rooms furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting and control surface and airborne contamination.
- Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.
- Simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects.
- Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects.
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks about ground level.
- Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover.
- Matches various textures on drywall and stucco.
- Removes corrosion and maintains finishes on machinery and equipment.
- Prepares and paints piping and ductwork.
- Inspects buildings and equipment and assesses required repairs.
- Replaces ceiling tiles and repairs suspended ceilings.
- Installs vinyl and rubber cove base.
- Performs minor carpentry tasks as needed.
- Assists various trades in preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery.
- Maintains cleanliness of mechanical and storage areas.
- Maintains written and computerized documentation of work performed.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). ??????Three to five years painting experience or three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional, self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Experience in O&M to include support of a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.

- Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record.
