Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling tailored to each pet’s breed and individual needs
- Safely handle animals using proper restraint techniques to ensure comfort and safety during grooming procedures
- Assess each pet’s health and behavior, alerting veterinary staff or pet owners to any concerns or abnormalities
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized and in excellent condition
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating with pet owners about grooming options, aftercare instructions, and pet behavior
- Assist with pet handling during appointments, ensuring a positive experience for both pets and their owners
- Support other team members with animal handling tasks such as kennel duties or pet sitting when needed
Experience
- Prior experience in pet grooming is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of breed-specific cuts and styles
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is a plus, providing insight into animal health and safety protocols
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and dog handling skills to manage pets effectively during grooming sessions
- Experience with animal restraint methods to ensure safe grooming practices for dogs, cats, or other small animals
- Familiarity with animal care routines including pet sitting, kennel management, or heavy lifting of animals or supplies
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate clearly with pet owners and build lasting relationships
- Hands-on experience working with animals such as dogs, cats, or equines in various settings enhances your ability to excel in this role
