Position Summary
The Office Float Medical Assistant is a versatile team member responsible for providing support in both the clinical and front office areas of the practice. This position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude, as the Float Medical Assistant will assist wherever needed to ensure smooth daily operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, able to multitask effectively, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Room patients and obtain vital signs.
- Update patient medical histories and medication lists.
- Assist providers with examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam rooms to ensure readiness for patient care.
- Process laboratory specimens and diagnostic orders.
- Complete clinical documentation and follow-up tasks as assigned.
- Respond to patient questions and assist with care coordination.
- Clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments according to OSHA and infection control guidelines.
- Operate and maintain the autoclave, ensuring proper sterilization of instruments.
- Perform and document routine spore testing to verify sterilization effectiveness and maintain compliance records.
- Monitor sterilization logs and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately.
- Maintain adequate inventory of clinical and sterilization supplies.
Front Office Support
- Answer incoming phone calls and route messages appropriately.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes.
- Collect co-pays, balances, and process payments.
- Manage patient portal messages and appointment requests.
- Scan and index documents into the electronic medical record.
Float Responsibilities
- Provide coverage for team members during absences, vacations, and high-volume periods.
- Rotate between clinical and administrative duties based on operational needs.
- Assist with special projects, workflow improvements, and office initiatives.
- Support all departments while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities and staffing needs.
- Cross-train in multiple areas to ensure continuity of operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems preferred, preferred eCW.
- Strong computer and organizational skills.

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
