POSITION SUMMARY
Banning Engineering is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and delivery of roadway, bridge, and related infrastructure projects for public and private clients across Indiana. The Project Manager is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, and budget while serving as the primary point of contact for clients and agency partners.
This is a leadership role suited to a licensed professional engineer who can manage multiple projects concurrently, mentor design staff, and maintain the technical and client-service standards that define our transportation practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, execute, and revise project work plans as needs and requirements change, identifying the resources needed and assigning individual responsibilities.
- Manage transportation design projects from proposal through construction, maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, and budget.
- Serve as primary client contact, building and sustaining relationships with public agencies and private clients.
- Oversee preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with INDOT, local agency, and applicable design standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including survey, drainage, utility coordination, and right-of-way.
- Prepare and review project proposals, fee estimates, and contract documents, and ensure project legal documents are completed and signed.
- Manage the project budget and analyze profitability, margins, bill rates, and utilization on an ongoing basis, no less than monthly and at project completion.
- Manage project scope and modify pricing and agreements as applicable when scope changes.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Mentor and provide technical direction to project engineers and design staff.
- Hold regular status meetings with the project team, report results to firm leadership and resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner.
- Support business development through proposal preparation and client engagement.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in transportation design.
- Demonstrated experience managing INDOT and/or local public agency (LPA) projects.
- Working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Indiana
- Prior experience as a project manager on LPA-administered federal-aid projects.
- Experience in client management and business development within the Indiana market.
- Familiarity with INDOT's project development and ERMS processes.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
