Full Job Description

This division is based in the Long Island City, New York area. This is someone who travels to various events to set up clocks. This individual will have more of an electrical background and is able to travel at least 120 days a year, working 70+ hour weeks. This role will span across the domestic US. This person will have a company card, and mileage will be reimbursed when applicable.

We want to emphasize that this role is heavy travel. If you are working a golf event for example, the event might last 8-9 days on site, and you will be on site from 6 am – 7pm.

Ability to travel and work long hours.
Flexible and ability to deal with change. Travel is scheduled out for the year but they might have to go to an event last minute.
Someone who is comfortable working independently without a lot of oversight. They will have plus extensive training in the beginning. They will also have a work phone and ability to communicate with their team when they are independent.
This person does not need to be an electrician. Someone who maybe does electronics as a hobby is okay. There will be a lot of training.

EXPECTATIONS

The Timing Device Technician is a unique position. Traveling throughout the United States up to 120 days a year, the Timing Device Technician installs and de-installs large, branded timing devices at sporting events. Additionally, the Timing Device Technician may install signage. This role requires physical strength and dexterity in addition to the ability to repair mechanical/electrical devices on-site, real-time at events’ spaces/venues. Many events are outside. Therefore, a successful Timing Device Technician must be willing to work in a variety of weather conditions. A successful candidate must be highly organized and self-motivated in addition to having the ability to represent the brand to clients, business partners, and the public. Although this role may require solitary time at events, strong team work, collaboration and communication skills will be essential to success.

OUTCOMES

Ensures the successful installation and functionality of all company timing/watch devices at company events.

Ensures the on-going successful maintenance, storage, repair and shipping of company timing/watch devices.
Ensures the successful installation of company signage at company events.

MAY PERFORM SOME BUT NOT ALL OF THE TASKS BELOW

Installing, maintaining and dismantling on-site clocks at assigned events Installing signage and other branding as needed at assigned events Working closely with event contacts to ensure seamless on-site activation Providing detailed pre- and post communication with vendors and event staff Coordinating the shipping & receiving of event clocks and materials
Drafting and organizing paperwork for shipments
Organizing warehouse including clocks, signage and spare parts Ensuring all clocks are cleaned and working properly at all times
Preforming electrical maintained and troubleshooting on-site and in the warehouse when necessary
Assisting with repair and upkeep of Jeweler clocks Assisting with new clock installs
Preparing post-event reports

MINIMUM HIRING REQUIREMENTS

BA degree preferred. Associates degree required Certification in electronics preferred
3+ years’ experience in events installations or electrical work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk; to write and perform data entry on a desktop computer. The employee will be required to work in extreme weather conditions. The employee will be required to use tools such as hammers, drills, and electronics testing machines. The employee is occasionally required to sit/walk/bend; lift and/or carry no more than 150 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, frequent reading as well as strong distance sight. The noise level in the work environment is usually low but may be very loud at some sporting events. The normal work schedule is 37.5 hours per week. The employee may be required to travel up to 120 days per year and work 70+ hours week.
