Summary:
This position develops, instructs and coordinates courses in Continuing Education for the Criminal Justice Program while planning, organizing, and coordinating other requested courses. The faculty will create a learning and teaching environment for students in accordance with the educational objectives of the college with and understanding of student success strategies.
This is a 12M position. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops and teaches Criminal Justice continuing education courses

Developslaw enforcement courses in accordance with current local law enforcement needs by researchinganddesigningnewtrainingprogramsandupdatesexistingtrainingand documentation

Coordinate and facilitate the Defensive Driving Program
-
Schedulesclassesto meet studentneedsat alllocations,times,and formats
-
Collaborateswith internalauditorsto ensureprogramcompliancewithallNCCCSrules and NC Training and Standards rules
-
Assist with completing all College documents to prepare a course for deliver and post-delivery (setups, schedules, class reservations, CSAs, packet preparation, and closeout checklists)

Works with the advisory board and area agencies to meet their training needs

Coordinates Con Ed in-servicetraining forLawEnforcement service area

Maintainsallcourserecordsanddocumentationforin-service courses

Maintains the In-Service calendar and advertise through all available resources

Reviewsinstructorlessonplansandotherinstructionalmaterialsforconformanceto Commission standards

EnsurescoursedeliveriesarefollowingCommissionproceduresandstandards,considers advisoryguidelines issued by the Commission, and ensures the training offered is safe, effective and within Commission guidelines.

Providessupport anddirectiontopart-time instructors who assist intheplanning,development,presentationor administration of courses for the area

Participatesinthemarketingofprograms,recruitment ofstudents,andmakes presentations to outside stakeholders

Administrative duties directly related to NC Commission courses (NC Criminal Justice
-
Training and Standards and NC Sheriff’s Education and Training and Standards Commissions)

Liaise with NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards and NC Sheriff’s Education and Training and Standards Commissions.

Serves as a Qualified Assistant to Commission Courses

AssistswiththecoordinationoftheJCCHowellWoodsTraining Facility

Audits/visitations of In-Service classes according to JCC Policy

Other duties as assigned.

Language Skills

Ability to communicate with various levels of students and stakeholders through various mediums of instructional delivery; educational philosophy compatible with the role of the community college.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills
A complete knowledge of Microsoft products as used in overall management in an educational environment is required.
