Overview
The General Manager will effectively lead the horticulture operation located in Ormond Beach, Florida, effectively servicing general landscapers and garden centers through Central Florida. The position will be accountable to manage 15-25 employees in the growth and delivery of a variety of plants, shrubs, vegetables, herbs, and related species to meet wholesale customer requirements. The incumbent will identify and install POS and inventory control systems to stream-line and manage the day-to-day operations. The incumbent will deploy best practices within the industry and lead in the overall execution of standard operating procedures that optimize key deliverables for the business. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Long term compensation package offered, BONUS offered and HOUSING IS INCLUDED.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Horticulture Management – oversee planting processes that control plant growth and protect species against pest and diseases to deliver a quality product.
2. Business Acumen – Apply strategic, organizational, and financial skills to build and manage a profitable horticultural business. Meet and exceed monthly revenue and earnings targets for the business.
3. Operations Management – Planning and organizing daily tasks, managing irrigation and environmental conditions that optimize growing and harvesting schedules. Ensure safety and compliance standards are maintained.
4. Employee Management – Effectively hire, train, and retain new employees to fulfill required duties within the business. Supervise staff in technical and administrative tasks to be performed daily.
5. Inventory Management – Identify customer requirements for type of plant/species and quantities that meet their business needs.
6. Marketing & Sales – Deploy strategies and tactics to sell plants, flowers, and horticultural products to customers and clients. Identify key customers that are critical for retention and the sustained growth of the business.
7. Information Technology – Install software/POS systems that enhance data driven decision making.
8. Plant Deliveries – Effectively develop profitable logistic routes to deliver plant products to the customer premises.
9. Metric Management – Identify key result areas for the business and employment positions to meet business and customer requirements.
10. Information technology – Deploy and leverage POS system and inventory management processes to integrate with the financial records of the company.
Education/Experience
1. The ideal candidate will hold a horticulture degree from an accredited institution.
2. The incumbent will have successfully managed a nursery operation for seven plus years within the industry.
3. The general manager will have experience with POS/inventory systems to optimize an operation and financial performance of the company.
4. The position requires the incumbent to be flexible to work evening and weekends as needed to meet business needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
