Residential Construction Project Manager
High-End Residential Construction | Dewatering Experience Required
Cavanaugh Construction is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Project Manager to join our team and lead high-end residential projects from preconstruction through completion.
We are looking for a well-rounded construction professional with strong field knowledge, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and experience managing complex residential projects.
Prior construction dewatering experience is required for this position. Candidates must have practical experience working on projects involving groundwater conditions, dewatering systems, or construction below the groundwater table.
The ideal candidate knows how to keep a project moving—coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules and budgets, anticipating challenges, maintaining clear communication, and ensuring the quality of the finished product.
What You’ll Do
· Lead and coordinate high-end residential construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
· Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, milestones, and overall project execution
· Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, consultants, engineers, and field teams
· Manage contracts and monitor subcontractor scope, performance, schedule, and compliance
· Coordinate site activities including excavation, shoring, foundations, utilities, waterproofing, and dewatering operations when required
· Understand how groundwater and dewatering conditions affect site logistics, sequencing, excavation, foundations, and below-grade construction
· Identify potential site and construction challenges early and develop practical solutions to minimize impacts to schedule and budget
· Conduct regular site inspections to monitor workmanship, safety, progress, and compliance with project requirements
· Read and interpret blueprints, civil plans, construction drawings, schematics, and 3D models
· Manage RFIs, change orders, daily reports, project documentation, schedules, and closeout requirements
· Utilize JobTread, Buildertrend, or comparable construction management software for project tracking, documentation, scheduling, and communication
· Maintain clear communication with clients, subcontractors, designers, engineers, consultants, and field personnel
· Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget while maintaining exceptional standards for quality and craftsmanship
Required Experience & Qualifications
Construction dewatering experience is required. Candidates without prior dewatering experience will not be considered for this position.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Proven experience managing residential construction projects from start to finish
· Prior hands-on or project management experience with construction dewatering and groundwater-related site conditions
· Strong field/site experience and a thorough understanding of residential construction
· Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, site logistics, and subcontractor coordination
· Experience coordinating excavation, shoring, foundations, utilities, waterproofing, and other below-grade construction activities
· Experience with JobTread, Buildertrend, or similar construction management software
· Ability to confidently read and interpret blueprints, civil plans, schematics, and technical construction drawings
· Experience managing subcontractors, vendors, contracts, RFIs, and change orders
· Familiarity with construction safety requirements and regulatory compliance
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, leadership, and time-management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
