**Position Overview:**
Ride Care Jax LLC is doing business as MOWA NEMT in the state of Maryland, a provider of Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) services, is actively seeking qualified and experienced individuals to join our team as a Wheelchair Van Driver. The successful candidate must have a clean driving record, pass a drug test, a clean background check, and must be able to follow a pick up schedule that may change in a moments notice.
**Responsibilities:**
- Safely transport wheelchair bound riders to their destination with compassion and professionalism.
- Enter medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, home residences to assist wheelchair bound riders.
- Load, unload, assist, and secure wheelchair bound riders up to 350 lbs into wheelchair accessible vehicle.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Utilize defensive driving techniques to prioritize passenger safety and well-being.
- Complete required training programs, including annual Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) training.
- Maintain current CPR and Basic First Aid certifications.
- Wear the provided Company uniform and maintain a well-groomed appearance.
- Use the Company vehicle for official business only and strictly adhere to traffic regulations.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules, ensuring punctuality for all appointments.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks, safety checks, and promptly report any issues.
- Adhere to all other responsibilities outlined in the NEMT Hiring Agreement.
**Additional Responsibilities:**
- Clean and sanitize vehicle and equipment, reporting maintenance issues, refueling vehicle.
- Fill out incident reports as required.
- Use cell phones, GPS applications, and dispatch systems for efficient and safe navigation.
- Comply with the company's drug-free policy and be subject to random drug testing.
- Acknowledge and agree to video and audio surveillance in the vehicle, recorded at all times.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 5 years of driving experience (non medical transportation).
- Preferred experience as a wheelchair van driver.
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents in the last 7 years.
- Careful and conscientious driver with road hazard awareness and avoidance skills.
- Successful completion of background check.
- Clean DOT drug test results
- CPR/First Aid, PASS, Defensive Driving, HIPAA, Securement Course (must be able to complete within 5 days of hiring).
- Valid driver's license in compliance with Maryland or Tri-state regulations.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.
- Must be able to safely load/unload wheelchair-bound passengers up to 350lbs into the van with a manual ramp, up and down ramp access, and steps if necessary.
- Able to work with riders with service animals (i.e. dogs).
- Coverage approval required by company auto insurance (insurance will only cover individuals over 25 years old).
- Must be able to work 8 to 12 hour shifts depending on trip demand for the day.
- Patient care experience is a plus but not required (will be included in training).
- Physically able to push, pull, kneel, twist, bend, squat, and some lifting.
- Self starter and punctual, will need to be able to work with little supervision.
**Pay Rate:**
- $15.00 per hour to start
- Pay bi-monthly (pay day is every 1st and 15th non holiday or weekend day of the month)

**Schedule:**
- Monday – Friday
- Weekends as needed
- Evenings as needed (past 8pm)
- Start and end shift times vary and operating hours are from 6:30 am to 7pm depending on trip requirements
- 8 to 12 hour shifts
- Overtime as needed
