At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Clinical Laboratory team plays a vital role in delivering timely, accurate diagnostic testing that supports high-quality care for patients across the lifespan. We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform laboratory testing and analysis of biological specimens while supporting quality control, instrument maintenance, and overall laboratory operations.
What You’ll Do
- Perform clinical laboratory testing on biological specimens in accordance with established procedures and quality standards
- Analyze test results and understand their relationship to diagnosis and the monitoring of health and disease states
- Perform quality control procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols
- Conduct routine instrument maintenance and recognize/report deviations in quality control or equipment performance
- Troubleshoot equipment and test systems to the extent possible
- Assist with phlebotomy, specimen processing, and answering laboratory phones as needed
- Support training and orientation of new laboratory personnel as assigned
- Utilize LIS/HIS systems to manage workload, review testing, and generate patient reports
- Prioritize workload to support efficient turnaround times and effective laboratory operations
- Maintain age-specific competency and provide services appropriate to neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Support compliance with hospital policies, laboratory standards, and patient safety practices
What You Bring
- Strong knowledge of clinical laboratory testing principles and procedures
- Ability to perform quality control, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Strong computer skills and experience working with laboratory information systems
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to patient safety, quality, and service excellence
Experience
- One (1) year of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or related science required
- Participation in continuing education (minimum 12 hours per year) to maintain licensure requirements
Requirements
- Current and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license
- LA City Fire Card certification required within 30 days of hire
