Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Crane / Material Handler to handle parts and support warehouse operations. This position primarily works with an overhead crane to remove heavy parts from shipping crates, perform a brief visual quality inspection, and safely place parts onto designated racks. Forklift operation is required to move crates and materials into and out of the work area but is a smaller portion of the position.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and work instructions at all times.
- Open incoming crates and prepare materials for unloading.
- Perform a brief visual inspection
- Safely remove parts from crates and place them onto designated racks.
- Meet established production requirements while maintaining safety and quality.
- Operate a propane sit-down forklift.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
Qualifications
- Prior overhead crane experience strongly preferred.
- Prior sit-down forklift experience required.
- Experience handling heavy automotive parts, racks, or similar industrial materials required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong commitment to safety and safe equipment operation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality required.
- Basic communication skills required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to successfully complete required forklift training and evaluation.
Production Expectation
Once fully trained, individuals in this position are expected to complete a minimum of 16 racks per day while maintaining required safety, quality, and handling standards.
This position is located in a Foreign-Trade Zone facility. Candidates must be able to successfully complete applicable background screening and facility-access requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION:
- The person in this position frequently communicates with warehouse employees and customers who have inquiries and require directions. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
- Work is in a warehouse environment with concrete floors that has exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Must be able to respond quickly to sounds and respond to moving vehicles.
