Job Summary:
This position requires direct patient communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The medical assistant works closely with the Physician, Clinical Supervisor and other team members. The MA provides clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality and efficient care. The MA exhibits initiative, is compatible and supportive, and displays team cohesiveness. This position will also be cross-trained for administrative duties when necessary.
Essential duties and responsibilities
· Assist physician with patient office visits which include rooming patients, interviewing patients, and entering information into the EMR.
· Maintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance with infection control standards; ensures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with supervisor to ensure timely reordering is completed.
· Performs administrative tasks, including form completions, referrals and patient educational material
· Scans all pertinent information into the EMR
· Demonstrates and performs universal precautions
· Utilizes time in a constructive and efficient manner ensuring that all areas, exam rooms are clean and orderly.
· Manages sterilizer and sterilizing of equipment, ultrasonic cleaner by performing proper maintenance and cleaning as directed by supervisor
· Assists in the ordering, receiving, and stocking of office supplies
· Answers phones, takes messages and documents patient calls
· Facilitates communication between the provider and patient as needed.
· Assists with other related front desk clerical duties such as data entry, faxing, scanning, collating and mailing.
· Assist with x-rays
· Manages the importation of ulcer photos into patients charts weekly
· Performs Smart ABI testing as indicated
· Checks Sharps bins regularly
· Assist supervisor with various tasks as directed
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
