About the Role
Cal Pacific Constructors, Inc. (CPCI), a Hays Group company, is hiring a Project Manager to lead our Southern California Edison Intrusive Wood Pole Inspection and Treatment (IPI) program, based from our Riverside headquarters. CPCI holds SCE's IPI Services Program contract for the 2026–2030 term and is building the dedicated Southern California organization that will deliver it — this Project Manager will stand the program up and run it. This position reports to CPCI's Program Manager – Utility Inspection Programs, and owns project delivery day to day: production, quality, client standards, safety compliance, and commercial administration. Company vehicle and gas card will be provided.
What you'll do:
- Own day-to-day program delivery: production planning, scheduling, and region/division coordination against annual pole inspection targets.
- Serve as CPCI's day-to-day interface with SCE's Authorized Edison Representative, contract manager, and T&D Inspections organization — leading weekly production calls, supporting monthly KPI and program reviews alongside the Program Manager, and driving audit responses.
- Direct field production through working foremen and single-person inspection units; coordinate staffing, training, and crew readiness as the program mobilizes and scales.
- Own quality: inspection record accuracy, first-pass acceptance rates, and punch/rework closure within required client timeframes.
- Maintain client standards across the program: SCE inspection specifications and documentation standards, GO 165 compliance, photo evidence requirements, and SCE contractor safety and access protocols.
- Ensure safety program execution — daily tailboards, monthly safety stand-downs, documented field safety observations, ISNetworld compliance, and wildfire prevention protocols.
- Oversee environmental and pesticide compliance for wood preservative application under California DPR requirements.
- Run the commercial side: unit reconciliation, invoicing, adder documentation and pre-approvals, and production forecasting versus plan.
- Support program ramp-up: hiring, onboarding, equipment readiness, and continuous improvement of production rates.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of project or operations management in utility field services; direct experience running or supervising a pole test & treat / intrusive pole inspection program is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of CPUC General Orders 95 and 165, intrusive inspection methods (excavation, boring, remedial treatment), and wood preservative products.
- Experience with California investor-owned utility work procedures, contractor safety programs, and ISNetworld.
- Proficiency with digital inspection platforms (SafetyCulture/iAuditor or similar), Excel, and production reporting.
- Experience managing union field workforces preferred; California DPR Qualified Applicator License (or ability to obtain) a plus.
- Valid California driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned service territoryk
