The Day Porter keeps the building clean, safe, and presentable while school is in session and the campus is occupied. This is a highly visible, reactive role focused on responding quickly to needs as they arise, maintaining restrooms and common areas, and handling trash and grounds upkeep throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to pop-up emergencies, including reports of sick students in classrooms and on buses, spills, and other urgent situations (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
- Move furniture and paper as requested by administration.
- Empty trash and clean receptacles throughout the day in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Maintain restrooms during the day: restock as needed, address spills, and keep surfaces clean and sanitary.
- Spot clean desktops, walls, door glass, mirrors, and doorknobs as needed.
- Dust mop and spot mop hard floors and address visible debris in high-traffic areas.
- Support cafeteria service: remove trash during breakfast and lunch, wipe tables between lunches, and sweep floors during and after lunches.
- Perform outside grounds upkeep within 10 ft of the building: trash pickup and blowing leaves off sidewalks (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
- Disinfect and clean drinking fountains and other frequently touched surfaces.
- Communicate building issues, supply needs, and incomplete items to the Day Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Prior janitorial, custodial, or porter experience preferred but not required.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while remaining responsive to requests.
- Professional and comfortable working around students and staff during school hours.
- Able to pass a background check
- Able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
