FLSA Status: Exempt, 45 to 50 hours/ week. Month end, Yearend, annual audit season 50 to 60 hours/ week. Weekend work as needed to meet deadlines and during production season.
Location: Onsite at HQ, willing to travel to plant sites as needed
Position Overview
The Controller will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions of the organization including accounting, financial planning and analysis, risk management, treasury, tax, and investor relations. This position will be critical in helping the CEO shape Moody Dunbar, Inc.'s strategic financial direction, ensuring long-term financial health, and driving operational efficiency. As an officer of Moody Dunbar, Inc., they will demonstrate integrity, humility, work ethic and critical thinking skills while representing our organization. They will learn the position from the ground up and be willing to learn the details of this role and our organization.
As Controller, you will play an essential role in managing financial risk, preparing financial reports, and optimizing the overall financial performance of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, taxes, accounts receivable/brokerage, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end close.
- Competent in purchasing, taxes, contracts, leasing, banking, costing, pricing, insurance, credit/ collections, and inventory
- Advise the CEO and COO on financial performance, business opportunities, and risk factors.
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Manage treasury functions and monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to support operational and strategic objectives.
- Responsible for data entry and approving journals within our information systems.
- Prepare financial reports and analysis as needed for the CEO.
- Coordinate annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Work with CEO on bank correspondence and provide financial projections to the bank and Board of Directors.
- Oversee retirement plan/profit sharing plan and adhering to ERISA
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and oversee all tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards that relates to accounting
- Evaluate and improve accounting processes, systems, and financial reporting efficiencies.
- Supervise, mentor, and cross train accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure team members are provided with the tools, training, and resources needed to succeed.
- Assist the CEO with financial planning, risk management, and long-term business strategy as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of accounting and financial management experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software, ERP system, and Microsoft Excel.
- Exercises discretion and professionalism by protecting confidential information and maintaining impartiality in all work responsibilities
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Accurate data entry skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing accounting personnel.
- Exceptional office and business management skills to oversee administrative and financial operations effectively
- Ability to uphold a standard of integrity and conduct business with sound judgement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be managed remote/ work in multiple time zones and regularly update stakeholders at different locations.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, lift repeatedly. Minimum lifting capacity is 30 lbs.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
