The Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture, Youth Services Division, is seeking enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with young people to serve as part-time Senior Counselors for the 2026-2027 school year.

Each individual plays a critical role in the success of the Youth Services Team and the ability to meet the needs and interests of Gaithersburg's diverse community. Based on their skill set and interests, Senior Counselors are placed into one of the City's out-of-school programs located at Gaithersburg school sites or other City facilities and parks to supervise and plan programs and activities for elementary, middle, and high school aged participants. We are looking for individuals who are responsible, dependable, and punctual; who can work independently and as part of a team; who can serve as a model for and promote responsible behavior; and who can create and contribute to a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants.
You must be at least 18 years of age and/or a high school graduate, be available to work weekdays (approximately 5 to 25 hours per week) during the school year, and must be able to attend all required staff training sessions prior to the beginning of programs. Possession of a valid non-provisional driver's license desirable. Starting hourly rate will be within the range and will be offered at a level consistent with the experience and qualifications of the candidate. Direct deposit of paychecks is a condition of employment for all City of Gaithersburg employees.
