Description
The Dining Room Manager oversees all front-of-house operations, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and member and guest satisfaction. Key responsibilities include supervising, training and scheduling staff, managing reservations and table setups, resolving member complaints, and coordinating with the kitchen. They are hands-on leaders, often managing inventory, enforcing health codes, and driving sales through service excellence.
Responsibilities
· Create, implement, and maintain ongoing training schedules and training materials for service staff, runners, and server assistants to ensure consistent service standards and professional development.
· Utilize POS systems to produce daily and meal-period revenue analysis, operational reports, closeout procedures, accurately charge members, create forecasts, generate revenue reports, and draft correspondence.
· Train staff on all aspects of POS systems and tablet (iPad) usage, direct pre-meal meetings and lead staff through all service styles (e.g. American, Russian, French, and buffet).
· Ensure the correct appearance, cleanliness, and safety of dining room areas, equipment, and fixtures; monitor equipment condition and report maintenance needs or concerns.
· Make recommendations for improvements to dining room service procedures, training methods, and floor plan layouts.
· Ensure the dining room and other assigned club areas are secure at the end of the business day.
· Maintain inventory of dining room items; ensure proper storage, organization, and accountability.
· Develop, oversee, and maintain the dining room reservation system.
· Monitor dining room labor budgets; adjusts schedules and staffing levels, including proper and timely staff cuts based on business volume, to ensure labor efficiency and adherence to financial goals.
· Attend scheduled staff and departmental meetings.
· Assist the Bar Manager in developing wine lists and beverage promotions.
· Perform other duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned by the Food and Beverage Director.
Education & Experience
· High school diploma or GED required.
· A four-year college degree in Hospitality is preferred.
· Three years of dining room supervisory experience in private club.
- Alcoholic beverage certification is a plus
- Food safety certification is a plus
Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull or lift 50 pounds on occasion.
