Commercial HVAC Installer | Do you hate your boss? Come talk to us.
Midwest Mechanical is growing fast, and we need real commercial HVAC installers who can produce clean, professional work without being babysat.
Read this before you apply
This position requires experience. If you have never installed commercial HVAC, do not apply. We are not looking for a "fast learner," a "quick study," or someone who "helped on a few commercial jobs once." Those are fine things to be, but this is not that posting. If you cannot walk onto a jobsite tomorrow, read the plans, and start setting your work, this job is not for you. If you can, keep reading, because we take care of people who can actually do this.
The work
Light commercial and commercial HVAC installation in Wichita and the surrounding area: rooftop units, curbs, ductwork, gas piping, venting, refrigeration piping, exhaust systems, controls, equipment setting, and project completion from rough-in through final. Tenant finish, remodels, warehouses, restaurants, offices, and retail.
What you'll be responsible for
- Installing commercial HVAC systems from rough-in through final, correctly and on schedule
- Reading plans and laying out your own work
- Coordinating with general contractors, inspectors, and other trades without drama
- Keeping your jobsite, your paperwork, and your material organized
- Passing inspection the first time
Requirements
- Proven commercial HVAC installation experience. You will be asked to walk us through jobs you personally installed: what the building was, what you set, what you ran, what went wrong, and how you fixed it
- Comfortable on rooftops, ladders, lifts, and active jobsites, in Kansas weather, all year
- Professional around customers and other trades
Preferred
- Journeyman mechanical license or apprentice card
- Rooftop units, economizers, exhaust fans, gas piping, refrigeration piping, split systems, ventilation, commercial controls
- Ability to lead a helper or small crew
- ServiceTitan or similar field software
What we offer
- Steady commercial volume with major growth ahead. We are a $5M+ HVAC, plumbing, and electrical company adding significant construction work, not a two-truck shop hoping the phone rings
- Competitive pay based on experience and what you can actually produce
- Company truck or vehicle allowance and fuel card, depending on role and qualifications
- A real path to lead installer or crew leader as we grow
- Clear expectations, organized structure, and a boss who doesn't hover over people who perform
How the interview works
No trick questions. You'll talk with people who know this trade, and we'll get specific about what you've installed. Experienced installers find this conversation easy. That's the point.
