Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Procurement Buyer to join our dynamic team within a leading pharmaceutical Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO). The ideal candidate will possess extensive procurement experience, particularly within manufacturing or pharmaceutical environments, and demonstrate a strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the sourcing and procurement of critical materials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting production excellence. The Procurement Buyer will play a vital role in optimizing supply chain operations, managing vendor relationships, and driving cost efficiencies across categories.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, packaging supplies, equipment, and services in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with procurement category management principles to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers, including pricing, delivery terms, and service agreements, utilizing strong contract negotiation skills and procurement regulatory knowledge.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to process purchase orders, track procurement transactions, and maintain accurate procurement records.
- Conduct supplier evaluations, root cause analysis for supply issues, and implement corrective actions to enhance vendor performance.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to support production planning and materials management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR), public sector purchasing standards where applicable, and internal quality management protocols.
- Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to proactively address potential disruptions.
- Maintain vendor contract management documentation while fostering strong supplier relationships through direct negotiation and ongoing communication.
- Support logistics coordination to optimize supply chain efficiency from procurement through delivery.
Experience
- Proven procurement management experience within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in procurement contract negotiation, vendor contract management, and sourcing strategies.
- Strong familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS for procurement activities; experience with MRP systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of procurement regulations including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) and public sector purchasing standards is advantageous.
- Experience managing procurement categories related to manufacturing materials, packaging supplies, logistics, or equipment is highly desirable.
- Skilled in supply chain management practices including logistics coordination, materials management, and production planning.
- Excellent negotiation skills complemented by the ability to perform root cause analysis for supply issues; capable of implementing effective solutions.
- Strong understanding of quality management principles related to supplier performance and materials sourcing.
