American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Cardiovascular Step-Down (CVSU) position in Birmingham, AL, requiring 2+ years of cardiac/CV surgery experience and AHA certifications.

Position is in a Cardiovascular Step-Down (CVSU) unit within a large, Joint Commission-accredited hospital

11-bed unit caring for post-cardiac surgery patients

Patient ratio of 4:1
-
GE monitors used for patient care
-
EMR system: Cerner
-
13-week contract with a night shift schedule (18:30–07:00), 3x12 hours
-
4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (approximately 2 per month)

Floating required to other ICUs and at times med/surg
-
No on-call requirements
-
Active AL RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — RN license must have no disciplinary actions or hits

Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — American Red Cross certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac/CV surgery nursing experience required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Provides post-operative nursing care to cardiac surgery patients in a step-down environment

Navy scrubs required; fleece is not permitted

Candidate SSN and DOB are required for consideration

Certifications must not be expired or set to expire within 30 days of the start date; proof of enrollment in a renewal class is acceptable as a placeholder
