Camp Kostopulos (Camp K) is looking for a dependable, skilled, and hardworking Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Technician to help care for our beautiful camp property in Emigration Canyon.
Camp K provides recreational and therapeutic recreation opportunities for children, teens, and adults of all abilities. Our facilities—including cabins and program spaces, grounds, equestrian areas, pool, vehicles, and outdoor recreation areas—are an important part of creating safe and memorable experiences for the people we serve.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and would rather spend the day solving problems than sitting behind a desk.
No two days at Camp K are exactly alike.
One day you might repair a faucet, adjust a door, or troubleshoot an irrigation problem. The next could include mowing, preparing the pool, repairing fencing, maintaining equipment, clearing snow, or getting camp ready for hundreds of summer participants.

What You'll Do
Facilities Maintenance & Repair
- Inspect Camp K buildings, facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify needed repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Prioritize maintenance needs and communicate significant concerns to organizational leadership.
- Perform general skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work.
- Complete basic carpentry projects and repairs.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs within the scope of the position.
- Perform basic non-licensed electrical maintenance and repairs as appropriate.
- Complete minor mechanical repairs and troubleshooting.
- Repair doors, hardware, fixtures, furniture, and other facility components.
- Maintain and perform basic repairs on specialized camp and kitchen equipment as appropriate.
- Assist with improvement, renovation, and special maintenance projects.
- Recognize when a repair requires a licensed contractor or specialized technician and communicate the need promptly.
Grounds & Landscaping
Help keep Camp K's mountain property safe, functional, and looking great throughout the year.
Responsibilities may include:
- Mowing, trimming, and weed control.
- Irrigation and sprinkler maintenance and repair.
- Tree and shrub trimming.
- General landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- Clearing leaves, branches, trash, and debris.
- Loading, unloading, and hauling materials.
- Maintaining pathways, roads, parking areas, and outdoor program spaces.
- Preparing outdoor areas for summer camp, events, programs, and seasonal changes.
Seasonal Maintenance
Camp K operates in a four-season mountain environment, so the work changes throughout the year.
Seasonal responsibilities may include:
- Swimming pool preparation and routine maintenance.
- Campground and outdoor recreation-area maintenance.
- Irrigation startup, maintenance, and winterization.
- Summer camp facility preparation.
- Fall property cleanup.
- Winterization of buildings, equipment, and outdoor systems.
- Snow and ice removal from roads, parking areas, sidewalks, and entrances.
- Operating tractors, snow blowers, shovels, and other snow-removal equipment.
- Maintaining snow-removal equipment in safe operating condition.
Equestrian Facility Support
Camp K's Equestrian Program is an important part of our property and programming.
You may assist with:
- General barn and equestrian facility maintenance.
- Arena maintenance.
- Fence and gate repairs.
- Maintaining equestrian equipment and facilities.
- Keeping barn and surrounding areas clean and safe.
- Mucking stalls and barn areas when needed.
- Assisting with feeding horses when assigned and appropriately trained.
- Completing other maintenance projects that support the health and safety of our horses, participants, and Equestrian Program.
Vehicles, Tools & Equipment
- Inspect and maintain assigned tools and equipment.
- Complete minor equipment repairs when appropriate.
- Operate Camp K vehicles, tractors, landscaping equipment, power tools, and other machinery safely.
- Help maintain agency vehicles in clean and serviceable condition.
- Identify mechanical problems and report repairs requiring specialized service.
- Keep tools, equipment, maintenance areas, and supplies organized and secure.
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply and material needs.
Facility Cleaning & Camp Support
This position is about doing what it takes to keep Camp K ready for the people we serve.
That may include:
- Cleaning buildings and program spaces as needed.
- Sweeping and vacuuming.
- Cleaning restrooms.
- Emptying trash.
- Preparing facilities for programs, rentals, special events, and summer camp.
- Setting up or moving equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Assisting other departments with facility and property needs.
Safety Comes First
Keeping Camp K safe is one of the most important parts of this position.
You will:
- Regularly inspect buildings, grounds, roads, equipment, and program areas for potential hazards.
- Correct hazards within your ability and authority.
- Promptly report conditions requiring additional attention or professional repair.
- Follow established safety procedures when operating vehicles, tractors, power tools, machinery, and other equipment.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Follow applicable safety requirements and organizational policies.
- Report facility damage, security concerns, accidents, and unusual conditions.
- Maintain safe work areas around participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
- Complete required work logs, incident reports, supply requests, and maintenance documentation.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming property.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with general maintenance, handyman work, facilities maintenance, construction, property maintenance, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, and general repair work.
- Experience safely operating hand and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate solutions.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned projects with limited supervision.
- Strong work habits, including punctuality, reliability, organization, and efficient use of time.
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on safety, urgency, and operational needs.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles used in property maintenance.
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, climbing, pushing, pulling, shoveling, and lifting and carrying approximately 50 pounds or more.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to providing a safe, positive, welcoming environment for Camp K participants, families, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous facilities or property-maintenance experience.
- Landscaping and irrigation experience.
- Swimming pool maintenance experience.
- Experience operating tractors, snow-removal equipment, landscaping equipment, or similar machinery.
- Basic vehicle or small-engine maintenance experience.
- Experience maintaining camp, recreation, nonprofit, school, ranch, equestrian, or similar facilities.
- Experience with equestrian facility maintenance.
- Experience working around horses.
- Experience working in an environment serving individuals with disabilities.

Schedule
Part-Time
Hours will be based on Camp K's facility, property, and seasonal needs. Some early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday work may occasionally be required for snow removal, emergencies, special events, summer camp, or other operational needs.
Specific anticipated weekly hours and scheduling expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
Pay
$20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Starting pay will be based on relevant experience in facilities maintenance, construction, skilled trades, landscaping, irrigation, equipment operation, and related areas.
