ASU101-UC - The ASU Experience
ASU 230 - Life by Design
UNI 250 - Designing Your ASU Experience
UNI 270 - Work by Design: Preparing for a Career
The Explore program is designed to help learners build and tell their own stories so they can gain important insights, forge meaningful connections, and differentiate themselves in an ever-changing job market. Courses in the Explore program support storytelling through the learning of design thinking steps and developing key mindsets to help students find ways to their academic, professional and personal futures. Specifically, learners engage in exploration of self-interests, values and skills while reflecting on past experiences and engaging in experiential learning opportunities to shape their future after graduation.
Faculty Associates will be part of the Explore team that focuses on holistic support of learners and their success. Thus, this role will have an active and pivotal role in student success, persistence and retention initiatives. Successful candidates should have excellent facilitation skills, be passionate and curious about working with college students, and have a growth mindset.
Explore faculty work includes three major areas of practice: policies/preparation, student engagement, and pedagogy. Explore faculty will participate in pre-semester training, follow program policies, and engage in our ongoing community of practice. Faculty work to engage students in coursework through building relationships and participating in the Explore program supports and activities. The pedagogical practices center on active learning in the classroom, promoting personal application of and reflection on course content, and thoughtful, personalized feedback on assignments.
Faculty Associate positions are one semester, non-benefits-eligible, fixed-term appointments with no tenure implications, not to exceed an average of .40 FTE per semester. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load.
