Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic and experienced Sous Chef/Lead Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assist in overseeing daily kitchen operations, lead food preparation efforts, and ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and presentation are maintained. Your leadership will inspire the team to deliver exceptional dining experiences, whether in day to day operations or catering events.
This position is Full Time during the school year (Mid-August to Mid-May) and as needed through the summer (Mid-May to Mid-August) for Camps/Catering/Conferences.
During the school year this position will work evenings and weekends. During the summer, the hours will vary based on schedule need.
Responsibilities
- Assist in leading and supervising kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient food production during all shifts
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to meet high standards of client and company
- Assist in managing inventory control, including ordering supplies, stock rotation, and minimizing waste
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Assist in menu planning by developing creative dishes that align with brand standards and customer preferences
- Assist in kitchen coordination of catering events and orders, ensuring timely delivery and quality assurance
- Train new team members on food handling, safety procedures, and culinary techniques
- Monitor kitchen operations during shifts, troubleshoot issues promptly, and support team management efforts
- All other duties as assigned by Regional/District Management, General Manager, Executive Chef and Operations Manager.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food production within a restaurant or catering environment; fine dining experience preferred
- Supervising experience in a fast-paced kitchen setting with strong leadership skills
- Extensive knowledge of food safety standards and dietary department practices
- Demonstrated ability in inventory management and cost control measures
- Skilled in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management systems
- Experience with menu planning, catering coordination, and shift management
- Strong team management abilities with excellent communication skills
- Background in hospitality or food service management is highly desirable
- Familiarity with banquet operations, food handling protocols, and restaurant experience is a plus
