Commercial Refrigeration Technician – San Antonio/Austin Apogee Mechanical | Full-Time | Compensation Based on Experience
Some technicians change parts until something works. Others actually figure out what's wrong.
We're looking for the second kind — and specifically, we're looking for someone who has spent years in the trenches of commercial refrigeration. Supermarket racks, walk-in systems, display cases, compressor diagnostics. The kind of work where a misdiagnosis doesn't just cost time — it costs a customer their inventory and their trust.
Apogee Mechanical is a growing commercial refrigeration and HVAC company serving Austin and San Antonio. We work in supermarkets, commercial kitchens, and high-demand commercial environments where equipment failure is a business crisis, not an inconvenience. Our customers need problems solved correctly the first time, by someone who genuinely knows refrigeration systems — not someone still learning them on the job.
If you're the tech other people call when they're stumped, and you're tired of working somewhere that doesn't recognize the difference between a detective and a part-swapper — we'd like to talk.
What the role looks like: You'll be running service calls independently on commercial refrigeration systems — diagnosing, repairing, and communicating directly with commercial clients. You'll support fellow technicians when the situation calls for it. We're not looking for someone to fill a truck — we're looking for someone who takes ownership of a call from first contact to confirmed resolution. HVAC experience is a plus, but refrigeration is the core of what we do and the core of what we need.
What we're looking for: 5+ years of hands-on commercial refrigeration experience with demonstrated diagnostic depth — supermarket systems, rack refrigeration, and commercial display and walk-in equipment. EPA certification required. Clean driving record. The kind of professional communication that makes customers trust you. If your background is primarily HVAC with limited refrigeration exposure, this role is probably not the right fit.
What we offer: A signing bonus for the right candidate. Compensation that reflects your actual skill level, not an arbitrary pay band. Company vehicle and tools, paid holidays and PTO, bonus opportunities, and room to grow into leadership for those with the ambition. We're small enough that your contributions are visible and valued — not absorbed into a number.
We do things right the first time. If that's how you operate, let's talk.
