About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Lead Cabinet Designer to oversee our cabinet design and sales team. This position will serve as the senior point of contact for our designers and will be responsible for maintaining design standards, supporting sales efforts, helping develop team members, and ensuring projects move efficiently from initial design through completion.
The ideal candidate is an experienced kitchen and bath designer who understands both the design and sales sides of the cabinet business and is ready to take on a leadership role. This person should be confident working with customers, reviewing designs, solving problems, and helping other designers succeed.
This is a hands-on leadership position. The Lead Designer will continue working directly with customers and projects while also providing direction and support to the design and sales team.
Responsibilities
Design & Customer Sales
- Work directly with homeowners, contractors, builders, and other customers to resolve issues.
- Create accurate and functional cabinet layouts using ProKitchen Design Software.
- Review customer plans, measurements, floor plans, and project requirements to develop appropriate cabinet solutions.
- Present design concepts and product options to customers and provide recommendations on cabinetry, finishes, accessories, and hardware.
- Prepare accurate quotes and proposals based on project specifications.
- Help customers understand their cabinet options, pricing, and project requirements.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy, organization, and timely follow-up.
- Assist with more complex or high-value projects when additional design or sales expertise is needed.
Team Leadership
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to cabinet designers and sales team members.
- Review designs and quotes for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to company standards.
- Help train new designers on cabinet products, design software, company procedures, and sales processes.
- Provide feedback and coaching to help designers improve their design and sales skills.
- Help establish and maintain consistent design standards across the team.
- Serve as a resource for designers when they encounter difficult layouts, customer concerns, or product questions.
- Assist management in identifying opportunities to improve the team's efficiency, customer service, and sales performance.
Project Coordination & Quality Control
- Work closely with operations team to help ensure projects are completed accurately.
- Identify potential design, ordering, or installation issues before they become larger problems.
- Review orders and project details to help minimize errors, shortages, and incorrect cabinet selections.
- Assist in resolving customer or project issues related to design, product selection, or order accuracy.
- Help ensure projects are properly documented and communicated between departments.
Sales & Business Development
- Lead by example in meeting sales and customer service expectations.
- Monitor design and sales activity and help the team stay focused on company goals.
- Assist designers with closing sales and handling customer objections when needed.
- Help identify opportunities to increase sales through product knowledge, customer relationships, and additional product offerings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, builders, homeowners, and other customers.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in kitchen and bath cabinet design, sales, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of kitchen and bath cabinetry, including cabinet construction, materials, finishes, accessories, and hardware.
- Proficiency with ProKitchen, 2020 Design, AutoCAD, or comparable cabinet design software.
- Strong understanding of kitchen and bath layouts, measurements, and space planning.
- Experience working with homeowners, contractors, builders, or other construction professionals.
- Strong sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify design and ordering errors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable providing guidance, training, and feedback to other team members.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Construction, remodeling, or installation experience is a plus.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
