Summary
AEM is looking for a hands-on Facilities & Equipment Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and upkeep of manufacturing, R&D, and facilities equipment. This role is ideal for someone with practical mechanical, electrical, and equipment maintenance experience who enjoys working in a high-mix technical manufacturing environment.
The technician will support both standard and custom equipment, including high-temperature ovens, automation systems, HASS machines, grinding and lapping machines, facility systems, and custom R&D equipment. The role may be structured as either part-time or full-time depending on candidate availability and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing and R&D equipment.
- Support high-temperature ovens, thermal processing equipment, and related controls.
- Maintain and troubleshoot automation equipment, sensors, actuators, pneumatics, motors, and basic control systems.
- Support HASS machines and HI-temperature ovens.
- Maintain grinding machines, lapping machines, and related mechanical equipment.
- Assist with installation, modification, and maintenance of custom facilities and custom R&D equipment.
- Support general facilities maintenance, including utilities, compressed air, exhaust, electrical, mechanical, and equipment hookups.
- Identify equipment issues early and help reduce downtime.
- Maintain maintenance logs, service records, and spare parts information.
- Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and Operations to support equipment readiness.
- Coordinate with external service providers when needed.
- Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and company maintenance standards.
- Help improve equipment reliability, cleanliness, organization, and uptime.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on maintenance, equipment technician, facilities, or manufacturing support experience.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience working with manufacturing or industrial equipment.
- Ability to read basic equipment manuals, drawings, wiring diagrams, or schematics.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, meters, and basic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize maintenance needs.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with engineers, operators, and managers.
- Willingness to support both facilities and equipment maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic welding, fabrication, machining, plumbing, or electrical experience.
- EHS background and permitting documentation experience.
- Microsoft Office tools experience.
- Experience supporting custom or one-of-a-kind R&D equipment.
- Forklift, electrical safety, or lockout/tagout training preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work around manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to use hand tools and work safely around electrical, mechanical, thermal, and moving equipment.
- Ability to work in manufacturing, lab, and facilities environments.
Work Schedule
This position may be structured as:
- Part-Time: Flexible schedule based on business need
- Full-Time: Standard weekday schedule with occasional support outside normal hours if equipment issues arise
