We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Assistant Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about numbers, has a keen eye for detail, and possesses a strong understanding of the construction industry, particularly HVAC and plumbing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our financial team, assisting in the preparation of financial reports, implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures, and contributing to the overall financial strategy of our organization.
Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Assistant Controller, you will:
1. Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements including Balance Sheet, P&L, and Cash Flow.
2. Conduct variance analysis to understand the difference between budgeted and actual figures.
3. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and job costing to ensure financial efficiency.
4. Manage the billing process, ensuring all invoices are accurate and sent in a timely manner.
5. Oversee inventory accounting, maintaining accurate records of materials and equipment.
6. Monitor labor trends to aid in workforce planning and budgeting.
7. Prepare aging reports to track outstanding receivables and payables.
8. Use Sage Intacct software for financial management and operations.
9. Assist in the year-end close process and preparation of annual financial statements.
10. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the HVAC MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) industry to inform financial decisions.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Assistant Controller role should have:
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the construction, HVAC, or plumbing industry.
3. Proficiency in using Sage Intacct or similar financial management software.
4. Strong knowledge of Balance Sheet, Variance Analysis, Budgeting, Forecasting, Job Costing, Billing, HVAC and Plumbing industry, Cash Flow, Aging Reports, P&L, Inventory Accounting, HVAC MEP, Labor Trends, Year-End Close, and Financial Statements.
5. Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly convey financial information to non-financial staff and stakeholders.
7. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling accounts, ledgers, and reporting.
8. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
9. A proactive approach to problem-solving, with strong decision-making skills.
10. A commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest industry trends and best practices.
