Shreem Capital, a trailblazer in the hotel industry, is actively seeking a dynamic and experienced Complex Chief Engineer to shape and optimize our hotel’s engineering operations. Position Overview
The Complex Chief Engineer is responsible for leading and managing the engineering and maintenance operations for a full-service Marriott hotel and a Courtyard by Marriott property. This leadership role ensures both properties operate at peak performance, meeting brand standards, guest expectations, and local code compliance. The Complex Chief Engineer will drive operational excellence through hands-on leadership, preventative maintenance, capital planning, and staff development across both sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the overall operation of the Engineering departments at both properties, ensuring functionality and safety of all physical assets.
- Ensure adherence to Marriott brand standards, including Preventive Maintenance Programs, Guestroom Preventive Maintenance (GMP), Life Safety Standards, and Energy Conservation Programs.
- Monitor and manage energy usage, utility consumption, and HVAC system efficiencies for both hotels.
- Lead a team of engineers across both properties, managing schedules, assigning tasks, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Maintain effective communication with General Managers and department heads at both properties to support smooth operations.
- Prepare and manage annual engineering budgets, monitor expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without sacrificing guest satisfaction or safety.
- Oversee and perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, fire codes, health department regulations, and Marriott engineering audit standards.
- Partner with vendors and contractors to complete capital projects, repairs, and installations.
- Maintain accurate records in MGS, GXP, and Quore, including logs, inspections, work orders, and maintenance schedules.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and emergencies, maintaining a high level of guest satisfaction and brand experience.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs and inspections at both properties to proactively identify maintenance and safety concerns.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years engineering leadership experience in a hotel environment, with at least 2 years in a Marriott-branded property (full-service and/or select-service).
- Previous experience overseeing multiple hotel assets or dual property responsibility preferred.
- Strong understanding of Marriott maintenance protocols, systems (e.g., HotSOS, MGS, GXP), and brand service culture.
- Technical proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Experience developing and managing capital expenditure and operational budgets.
- Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams across different property types.
- EPA certification and/or other applicable licenses (e.g., CPO, boiler, electrical) preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call availability.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, climb, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working with tools and equipment associated with building maintenance and repair.
