Responsibilities & Activities
- Manage a portfolio of high-net-worth client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for tax planning and advisory matters
- Review complex individual, trust, partnership, S-Corp, and corporate tax returns prepared by associates
- Lead tax planning engagements and proactively identify tax-saving strategies for clients
- Supervise, mentor, and develop senior and staff-level associates, providing regular feedback and guidance
- Manage engagement timelines, budgets, and deliverables in coordination with partners
- Monitor federal and state tax law developments and communicate relevant changes to clients and the team
- Contribute to business development efforts including client proposals and referral relationship management
- Collaborate with the Operations Team on workflow, billing, and client onboarding
- Help drive firm-wide process improvements, technology adoption, and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MST or JD a plus
- CPA license required
- 7+ years of public accounting or tax experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or review capacity
- Deep knowledge of federal and multi-state individual income tax; trust, estate, partnership, and/or S-Corp experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships independently and with confidence
- Proven track record of mentoring and developing junior staff
- Proficiency with professional tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, ProSeries, or similar)
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel
- Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple engagements and deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients clearly
- Director- or partner-track candidates strongly encouraged to apply
- Appreciation for a team that takes its work seriously but not itself- sense of humor a plus
