Job Summary:
Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, a vibrant Catholic community, is seeking a Coordinator of High School
Youth Ministry to join the team in the mission of evangelizing, forming, and accompanying the youth of
the parish. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth ministry, a love for Christ and His Church,
strong organizational skills, and a desire to form joyful missionary disciples who encounter Jesus Christ
in their everyday lives.
The Coordinator of High School Youth Ministry will oversee and lead the parish's mission of
evangelization to high school students through prayer, handing on the faith, coordinating service
projects, and accompanying teens as they enter into and grow in discipleship. The role will involve
building a dynamic team and working collaboratively with the Director of Discipleship Formation and
other staff members to plan, organize, and execute various events, programs, and activities that will
inspire and empower young people to grow in their faith.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accompany high school youth in their faith formation and life of discipleship through relational
ministry, retreats, bible studies, service opportunities, pilgrimages and faith programs like
Life Teen.
- Oversee religious formation for youth who are looking to join the Catholic church.
- Lead and manage the youth ministry team in creating, planning, and implementing engaging and
inspiring events, programs, and activities that foster the spiritual, emotional, and social growth
of the youth.
- Collaborate with the Director of Discipleship Formation and other staff members to develop a
vision and strategy for youth ministry that aligns with the parish's mission and vision.
- Work with the parish programming and parish school to get to know middle schoolers
and build a base of students for later ministries.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, families, and the local community to
support and serve young people in the area.
- Support and mentor volunteers in youth ministry, including training, coaching, and ongoing
formation.
- Attend diocesan and national conferences, workshops, and training events to stay updated on
best practices and trends in youth ministry.
- Manage the youth ministry budget and ensure responsible use of resources.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in education, pastoral ministry, social work, theology, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience working with young people in a volunteer or paid capacity,
preferably in a Catholic or Christian setting.
- A strong commitment to the Catholic faith and a desire to evangelize and disciple young people.
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and lead a
team of volunteers.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate the Gospel
message to young people effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members, volunteers, parents, and community
partners.
- Familiarity with Catholic teachings and practices, including the sacraments, liturgy, and the
Catechism of the Catholic Church.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
