Job Summary
Join the Pet Companions team as a Dog Groomer, where your passion for dogs and expertise in pet styling come together to create happy, healthy, and beautifully groomed dogs. In this energetic role, we're looking for a groomer who can bathe and groom our existing clients' pets, working out of our on-site grooming station.
We're also open to groomers who want to bring their own established clientele to groom at our location — if you have a book of clients and are looking for a home base with the equipment already set up, we'd love to talk.
This is a commission position offers an opportunity to showcase your grooming skills while working in a lively, pet-loving environment.

Duties
- Perform both simple and comprehensive grooming services from bathing, brushing, trimming to styling of various dog breeds to meet owner preferences and breed standards
- Provide monthly nail trims to package owners
- Handle dogs safely and compassionately using animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Maintain pet coat health through proper grooming techniques, including pet nail trimming and coat styling
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand their grooming requests, provide care advice, and address any concerns
- Ensure a clean and sanitized grooming station by properly cleaning tools, tubs, and work areas after each appointment
Skills
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a focus on dog coat styling and pet care techniques
- Strong knowledge of animal handling, restraint methods, and safety protocols for dogs of all sizes and temperaments
- Background in veterinary experience or veterinary technician/assistant roles is highly desirable for understanding animal health needs
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with pet owners about grooming procedures and pet health considerations
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary for handling large or heavy dogs safely
- Familiarity with pet nail trimming, bathing procedures, and general animal care practices to deliver high-quality grooming services
Compensation
- Compensation differs depending on whether you're grooming clients booked through Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit or clients you bring with you
- Groomers earn 40% commission on services for house clients
- Groomers earn 50% commission on services for clients they bring themselves
- Exact terms are negotiable based on your skill level, experience, and the number of clients you anticipate bringing to our business

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
