HIMI is a Managing General Agency and Third-Party Administrator dedicated to supporting Hawai`i’s businesses through customized insurance packages and expert insurance consulting. Our Underwriter plays a key role in delivering excellent customer service by managing accounts, fostering strong agency relationships, and supporting agents in providing well-rounded and competitive insurance solutions.
Essential Duties

Review insurance coverage applications for completeness according to HIMI and carrier partner procedures and guidelines. Determine appropriate market placement based on application criteria and needs of the agency and agent.

Effectively manage book of assigned agencies including renewal management and account servicing.

Provide timely quotes and communication.

Assist agents in identifying coverage gaps.

Comply with HIMI Service Standards. Meet service standard quality and timeliness guidelines for all HIMI carrier partners and their processes.

Establish good rapport with agents to promote positive relationships.

Promote a culture of outstanding customer service across the organization.

Support organization-wide and HIMI diversification initiatives including cross-selling and product offerings.

Requirements

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a solutions-oriented mindset.

Strong customer service focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft operating systems, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent comparable experience.
-
2+ years of insurance experience.

Knowledge of multi-line insurance coverage, policy forms, rating, and manuals (preferred).

Hawaii Insurance Producers License (preferred)
