Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi using traditional techniques and innovative presentation styles
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in all food preparation areas
- Develop and refine sushi recipes to ensure freshness, flavor, and visual appeal
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to coordinate service flow and ensure timely delivery of dishes
- Manage inventory levels of seafood, rice, seaweed, and other ingredients to minimize waste
- Educate junior staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices
- Uphold the restaurant’s standards for quality control and customer satisfaction at all times
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Extensive knowledge of sushi ingredients, knife skills, and presentation techniques
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and proper handling of raw seafood
- Experience in developing new recipes or menu items is a plus
- Strong classroom management skills if involved in training or mentoring staff
- Background in culinary arts with formal training or certifications preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
