Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Overnight In-Home Caregiver to provide exceptional care and support to clients during nighttime hours. As an overnight caregiver, you will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents through attentive monitoring, personal care assistance, and compassionate companionship. Responsibilities
- Provide personalized patient care during overnight hours, including assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health status or behavior, documenting findings accurately in care plans.
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.
- Assist with patient transfers using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods.
- Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary restrictions and assist residents with meal consumption as needed.
- Conduct regular patient observation to identify potential safety hazards or health concerns, responding promptly to emergencies with first aid or CPR when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being through engaging conversation, companionship, and encouraging participation in activities suited to their needs.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare teams to update care plans and communicate any significant changes or concerns regarding residents’ health.
Skills
- Proven experience working as a caregiver in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care strategies, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform manual handling safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods; experience working with heavy lifting is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and coordination with healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Experience assisting with ADLs and personal care tasks while maintaining dignity and respect for residents’ independence.
- Ability to respond calmly in emergency situations through first aid and CPR certification; experience working in hospice or home health environments is advantageous.
- Capable of managing multiple responsibilities including meal preparation, light cleaning, medication reminders, and client transportation assistance.
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience and flexibility to meet the unique needs of each resident across various settings such as geriatrics or intellectual disabilities support.
