Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to all safety protocols
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and progress in Dentrix
- Follow strict infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment
- Monitor and record vital signs to assess patient health status before treatments
- Review medical records for accurate documentation review and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support pediatric dentistry cases by applying specialized knowledge of pediatrics and dental terminology
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting
- Familiarity with Dentrix is highly preferred but not required
- Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures, medical terminology, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health
- Experience with infection control practices, including sterilization techniques and aseptic procedures
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles to effectively care for young patients
