Fabrication Associate
Location: Groveport, OH
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary (3‑month duration, temp‑to‑perm opportunity)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Lunch: 30‑minute unpaid lunch
Overtime: Possible; occasional Saturdays
Environment: Non-climate-controlled (can get very hot; not air-conditioned)
Job Overview
The Fabrication Associate supports daily pipe fabrication operations in a fast‑paced industrial environment. This role involves operating fabrication machinery, handling materials, performing quality inspections, and preparing pipe products for shipment.
Candidates must be mechanically inclined, comfortable working in hot conditions, and capable of operating machinery while maintaining safety, quality, and production standards. Strong performers may be considered for permanent employment following the contract period.
Must‑Haves
- 6–8 months of recent machinery experience, including:
- Band saws
- Automatic welding machines
- Mechanical or industrial background
- Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure
- Experience using gauges for quality inspections
- 3–6 months of forklift experience
Responsibilities: Fabrication & Material Handling
- Move loose or bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard
- Assemble pipe orders (single sticks or bundles)
- Maintain organized work supplies and staging areas
Machine Operation
- Set up and maintain fabrication machinery
- Measure, record, and calculate pipe lengths accurately
- Cut pipe using band saws or torches
- Thread and bevel pipe using Landis machines
- Operate powered industrial equipment following OSHA and company procedures
Quality & Safety
- Perform quality inspections using measuring tools and gauges
- Verify dimensions, product quality, and fabrication accuracy
- Follow all safety procedures for fabrication, cutting, stacking, and shipping activities
- Inspect and maintain forklift equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong math skills for measurements and product calculations
- Knowledge of safe work practices in industrial or pipe yard environments
- Experience with machinery used for cutting and threading pipe (training provided)
- Results-focused mindset in a fast-paced production environment
- Basic computer skills for automated machinery
Preferred Experience
Experience with:
- Pipe threaders
- Roll groove machines
- Plasma cutting equipment
- Pneumatic banders
- Fire sprinkler pipe fabrication
Ability to sort and handle pipe ranging from ½" to 10" in diameter.
