Description:
Set up and operate single hit punch presses to produce parts according to customer specifications. Will perform other duties as required, including press operation.
- Assemble nests and dies to perform various single hit operations including float pierce, cushion pierce, semi blank, temp blank and various compounds using hand tools
- Set and adjust clamps and stops
- Position workpiece against backstop or manually align layout marks
- Measure workpiece dimensions throughout to ensure quality and repeatability
- Observe tool and machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
- Visual inspection of first piece
- Issue job and safely check in Press Operator once set up is complete
- Collaborate quality control personnel and other team members to meet production targets and address any issues or concerns.
- Follow all company safety and operations policies
Requirements:
- Proven experience at setting up single hit punch presses
- Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Experience working with ¼” thickness and thinner sheet metal
- Ability to read blueprints and part routers
- Identify metal material types and gauge thickness
- Knowledge of how to select position and align dies in machine and confirm that they are properly secured.
