Title: Building Custodian/District Driver

JOB OVERVIEW:
Minor maintenance work in a school facility, including equipment, furniture and cleaning.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Working knowledge of cleaning materials and methods
-
Working knowledge of tools, mechanical equipment and techniques used in various skilled trades
-
Working knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions and fire and sanitation codes
-
Ability to operate various types of power and hand machinery and tools
-
Ability to make minor repairs to equipment and building fixtures.
-
Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
-
Ability to perform assigned daily duties with a minimum of direction.

Ability to establish and maintain effective public and co-worker relationships
-
Valid Illinois Driver’s License
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Notify immediate supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair and/or replacement
-
Mops and waxes floor areas in halls
-
Vacuums and scrubs carpeted rooms, halls and offices
-
Sweeps and cleans offices, classrooms and bathrooms
-
Cleans, dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork
-
Collects and disposes of all waste paper and material
-
Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as required (including cafeteria)
-
Performs grounds work adjacent to building (removes snow & ice and debris from entrances and adjacent area
-
Performs minor maintenance work (painting, lights, filters, wall boards & sharpeners)
-
Performs other operations & maintenance duties as assigned by administration

Driver specific
-
Delivers mail, food, supplies and equipment to District buildings
-
Acts as temporary building custodian when absences create a shortage of workers
