Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The After School Program Tutor assumes responsibility for guiding and mentoring a designated group of students, spanning from Kindergarten to 8th grade, serving as a supportive adult figure in their lives. This role involves working with a diverse group of students who may be facing various challenges related to homelessness. The primary purpose of the position is to create a safe and supportive environment where these students can thrive academically and emotionally. During school breaks or vacation periods, such as summer or winter breaks, the tutor's responsibilities may vary.
- Assist students with their homework, assignments, and academic challenges. Offer one-on-one tutoring and guidance in various subjects to help improve their academic performance.
- Foster a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to learn. Build trust and rapport with the students, recognizing and addressing their individual needs and concerns.
- Prepare engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with the student's educational needs and interests. Utilize creative and interactive teaching methods to enhance their learning experience.
- Offer emotional support and encouragement to students who may be facing stressful situations due to their living conditions. Create opportunities for open communication and provide a listening ear when needed.
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator to understand the specific needs of students and align tutoring efforts with the school's curriculum. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to update them on their child's progress.
- Keep accurate records of students' academic performance, attendance, and any behavioral changes. Use data to assess progress, identify areas of improvement, and tailor tutoring strategies accordingly.
- Promote positive behavior and provide constructive feedback to help students develop self-discipline, responsibility, and good study habits.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance tutoring techniques, cultural competency, and understanding of the challenges faced by students.
- Oversee the after-school program's physical space, ensuring it is clean, organized, and conducive to learning.
- Responsible for attending staff meetings, ensuring timely completion of training, and accurately completing timecards.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent: A minimum educational requirement to demonstrate basic literacy and communication skills.

- Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.

- Ability to work in a team: Collaboration and cooperation with other staff, volunteers, and external agencies.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Google)
Required Qualifications:
Employment Eligibility Verification:
- Must provide documentation to establish identity and employment eligibility in compliance with legal requirements. This may include a U.S. passport, Permanent Resident Card, or other acceptable forms of identification.
Negative Tuberculosis Test:
- Must provide documentation of a recent negative tuberculosis (TB) test result to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Background Screening:
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background screening, which may include criminal record checks, employment history verification, and reference checks.
Pre-Employment Drug Screening:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a drug-free workplace. A negative drug test result is required.
Driving Skills:
- Must meet the requirements set by our auto insurance carrier.
Insurance Coverage:
