Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Workman's Compensation Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will support attorneys specializing in workers' compensation law by managing case files, conducting legal research, and preparing documentation to ensure efficient case progression. Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with managing workers' compensation cases from inception through resolution, including filing claims, tracking deadlines, and maintaining case files
- Conduct comprehensive legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law related to workers' compensation law and other practice areas such as personal injury
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and correspondence with precision and clarity
- Utilize legal case management systems like PCLaw and document management platforms such as iManage to organize case information efficiently
- Perform detailed document review and data entry to ensure accuracy in all case-related records
- Support attorneys with administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, coordinating interviews with clients or witnesses, and managing communication with insurance companies and medical providers
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or other legal research tools to gather pertinent information for ongoing cases
Requirements
- Proven paralegal experience with a strong background in workers' compensation law
- Familiarity with legal research tools including Westlaw, LexisNexis, and UCC law principles
- Experience with legal case management software like PCLaw and document management systems such as iManage or similar platforms
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence clearly and professionally
- Proficiency in proofreading, transcription, and document review processes to ensure accuracy of all case materials
- Effective interviewing skills for gathering information from clients, witnesses, or experts in various legal contexts
- Exceptional clerical experience including filing, data entry, phone etiquette, and general administrative support within a law office setting
