Under the general direction of the Museum Director, the Museum Youth Staff welcomes all guests in a friendly and courteous manner, responsible for housekeeping of the lighthouse structures and grounds.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide fast and courteous service to all guests and visitors Point Iroquois Light House.
2. Maintains a neat and clean appearance.
3. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
4. Perform opening and closing routines for the cash register for the gift shop.
5. Handles some customer complaints and incidents in the facility in a helpful, courteous, and constructive manner.
6. Communicate all issues and suggestions to the Museum Director and U.S. Forest Service Staff.
7. Maintain cleanliness of the museum, toilet building, lighthouse tower, gift shop, and surrounding lawn and grounds, including the brass-works.
8. Weed and care for flower beds as needed.
9. Other duties may be assigned within the scope and complexity of this position’s essential functions.
10. Must attend all mandatory training designated by Museum Director & U.S. Forest Service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and walk. Regularly, the employee must kneel, bend, push/pull, and be able to reach above shoulder level. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; some projects may require assisting in moving additional, heavier items. The employee may be required to use their hands for repetitive actions such as simple grasping. The employee is regularly exposed to dust.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be at least 16 years or older.
2. If under 18, the applicant must be enrolled in High School (or home-school) and must maintain a passing GPA (C Average) to continue employment.
3. Ability to manage multiple tasks and develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
4. Decision-making skills; good judgment, systemic thinking, and problem-solving.
5. Knowledge of traditional Anishnaabe history and teachings is helpful.
6. Will adhere to and enforce any guidelines or policies established in the Bay Mills Indian Community Personnel Policies.
7. Excellent communication skills and a friendly personality.
8. Must have an excellent past work history and attendance record.
9. To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each function listed under the essential functions and physical demands categories of this position description.
