A growing, multi-facility skilled nursing organization is hiring an Employee Relations Specialist for its corporate office in Far Rockaway, New York. This is a full-time, on-site Employee Relations Specialist role paying $100,000–$130,000 per year, and it's a hands-on caseworker seat — not a management job. As our Employee Relations Specialist, you'll personally run workplace investigations from intake through resolution and serve as the go-to resource for facility administrators on discipline, terminations, and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations.
We'll be upfront about the kind of Employee Relations Specialist we're after: someone who runs their own cases. You take the complaint, interview the witnesses, gather the documentation, and write the defensible report. If your employee relations background is mostly directing a team that did this work, this seat will feel like a step backward. If you love the casework itself, it's a strong spot — stable company, real support from ownership and the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), and direct access to legal counsel.
What You'll Do
- Personally conduct workplace investigations end to end — intake, interviews, evidence, defensible written reports
- Manage ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodation requests and the interactive process
- Partner with facility administrators and leadership on progressive discipline, terminations, and escalations
- Handle EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission)-type complaints alongside legal counsel
- Support FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), and wage-and-hour compliance
Qualifications
- Hands-on employee relations experience — you have personally conducted workplace investigations, not overseen them. Required.
- Direct experience with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accommodations and the interactive process
- Working knowledge of EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) complaints, FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), and employment law compliance
- Experience in a non-union environment
Healthcare experience strongly preferred. SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility) or LTC (Long-Term Care) background is a plus, not a requirement. SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
What We Offer
- $100,000–$130,000 per year
- Full-time, on-site at a corporate office in Nassau County, NY
- Direct working relationship with the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) and legal counsel
- A stable, growing organization with an ownership team known for taking care of its people
