EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
-
Facilitate the Special Education Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process for assigned campuses.
-
Coordinate and conduct ARD meetings; ensure the development, implementation, and documentation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); maintain accurate student records; and collaborate with campus and district staff to ensure compliance with federal and state special education requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
-
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
-
Valid Texas teaching certificate
-
Special Education certification preferred
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
-
Knowledge of special education laws, ARD procedures, and IEP documentation requirements
-
Ability to interpret and apply state and federal regulations
-
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare required reports
EXPERIENCE:
-
Three (3) years of experience in special education and/or ARD/IEP-related experience preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
-
Facilitate ARD Committee meetings and coordinate the development of IEPs for assigned students.

Ensure compliance with all required timelines, including annual ARDs, reevaluations, and written notice to parents.

Collect, review, and organize student data from cumulative records, teachers, administrators, parents, and outside agencies.

Coordinate appropriate placement and services in accordance with district procedures and state and federal law
-
Support campus staff with IEP implementation and instructional strategies.

Consult with teachers regarding student behavior and instructional supports as outlined in the IEP.

Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Compile, maintain, and secure all special education records and documentation.

Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, campus administrators, district staff, and community members.

Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills.

Comply with all state, district, and campus policies and procedures.
-
Attend meetings and serve on committees as required.
-
Follow the Texas Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.

Follow district safety and emergency procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.
