Staff Accountant
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per year plus annual bonus

A professional services firm providing educational materials to their clients is looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Staff Accountant to join their Finance team. This is a hybrid position based in our Bethesda, MD office.
What You'll Do
- Process and manage accounts payable transactions accurately and on time
- Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with accounting principles and internal policies
- Support monthly close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Assist with audit requests and documentation as needed
- Maintain the accuracy of financial data within our NetSuite ERP system
- Build, maintain, and optimize complex Excel spreadsheets for reconciliations, reporting, and analysis
- Create AI processes to automate manual tasks
- Partner with colleagues across Finance and other departments to resolve discrepancies and drive process improvements
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
- 2-3 years of accounting experience, with a solid understanding of debits/credits, accounts payable, and journal entry preparation
- Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP financial system
- Exposure to 1-2 financial audits as a contributing team member
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
- Experience using AI to automate manual accounting task
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows PC
Nice to Have
Prior involvement in process improvement initiatives using AI
Experience with sales tax, physical inventory, and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
