Duties
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately to process retail sales transactions, including cash handling, credit card payments, and mobile payments
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly, answering questions about products.
- Upsell store items by recommending complementary products and informing customers about ongoing promotions to boost sales
- Maintain an organized cash drawer, perform cash register reconciliations at shift end, and handle cash drawer balancing with precision
- Stock shelves, merchandise displays, and assist with inventory management to ensure product availability and attractive presentation
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when taking orders or answering customer inquiries over the phone
- Support merchandising efforts through product knowledge sharing and participating in store setup or promotional activities
Experience
- Previous cashier experience in restaurant, retail or grocery store environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations is essential
- Supervising experience in retail settings is a plus, demonstrating leadership skills and team collaboration
- Strong communication skills in bilingual settings are advantageous for serving diverse customer bases
- Experience with retail math, basic math skills, and retail sales transactions ensures accuracy in handling money and processing sales efficiently
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or familiarity with grocery products enhances your ability to assist customers effectively
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service while managing multiple responsibilities in a busy environment
