Job Summary
Join the Burns Park Orthodontic team as the Orthodontic Records and Laboratory Technician, where you will play the vital role in the practice. In this role, you will manage all orthodonitc records (digital radiographs, photos, and scans) or new, current, and past patient. You will also manage the fabrication of orthodontic retainers and mouthguards. Duties
- Exposed panoramic and cephalometric digital rediographs
- Completed facial and intraoral photography
- Take precise alginate impressions and utilize an iTero scanner
- Fabricate and deliver orthodontic retainers in the laboratory
- Maintain strict infection control protocols through aseptic techniques during all laboratory procedures and clinical interactions.
- Support patient education by explaining dental terminology related to orthodontics and assisting with pediatric patients when necessary.
Skills
- Experience in dental radiology with a focus on orthodontics
- Familiarity with orthodontic laboratory work preferred (impressions, pouring in stone, fabricating vacuumed-formed clear retainers)
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
- Excellent understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to orthodontics, and medical coding practices.
- Effective communication skills for explaining procedures clearly to patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
