The Child Care Teacher/Substitute will support the teaching staff in implementing childcare programs. The Teacher works cooperatively with team members in the classroom, the parents, and the Director to carry out the childcare mission and vision. The Teacher provides quality childcare services to children and families that focus on A Child’s Life core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Essential Functions
· Work with the Director and Lead Teacher to implement the curriculum within the established guidelines.
· Implement daily lesson/activity plans.
· Engage, develop, and ensure the safety of the children.
· Oversee all activities in the classroom.
· Maintain program site and equipment.
· Help train, develop, and provide work direction to new team members.
· Support the Director and Lead Teacher working respectfully with all other Center employees.
· Maintain required program records and children’s files.
· Maintain licensing/NAEYC accreditation requirements.
· Attend staff/team member meetings.
· Complete in-service training hours as required by the state based off education along with completing extra training hours required to receive quality point for the center.
· Participate in and support fund raising programs for the Center.
· Attend all functions/events, planned for our children and their families.
· Assist in supervising children and participate with children in activities.
· Communicate with parents on an ongoing basis and assist with parent conferences.
· Assist with daily observations and child evaluations.
· Provide guidance for children’s behaviors.
CACFP Requirements
All employees of A Child’s Life are required to participate/operate under the Child and Adult Care Food Program rules and regulations. Teachers sanitize tables and then disburse meals to each child when food is served. They then sit at the tables with the children to encourage the consumption of each meal. After the meals are served, waste is disposed of appropriately and tables are re-sanitized. In the absence of the lead teacher, teachers are responsible for ensuring meal counts are completed each time food is served and turns these meal sheets into the center cook.

Qualifications – Required
· Minimum age of 18.
· High School Diploma or its equivalent; AND
· Have Early Childhood Education Credential OR
· Willing to take EDU 119 (options available to cover tuition)
· Adult and Child CPR or CPR/PR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire date.
· Able to attend all in-service required training.
· Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
· A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives.

Work Conditions
· Perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting to 50 pounds at a time.
· Ability to recognize and react calmly, quickly, and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
· Provide children with assistance in dealing with issues such as personal hygiene, medical needs, toileting, diapering, feeding, and getting in or out of transportation.
· May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as a part of the childcare environment.
